How Far Am I?
Ultimate is something that I really feel like I am good at. It's a sport that I can succeed at, one that I have picked up quickly and have learned to do well right away. In watching these DVD's, I wonder if the parity between the top level elite players and myself is that great. I get the impression that I could be thrown onto the field and people would hardly notice a difference--I wouldn't be a star player right away (if ever), but I certainly wouldn't be a liability.
The question is whether, in watching these DVD's, I am somehow missing something. Does the speed and skill of these individuals completely conveyed to me through the television or is a lot of it lost in the media. I try and think of instances when I've played against elite level players, and I don't feel like I'm that far behind. I guess the best way to find out is to play more with upper-tier players. I need to stop dominating the lower-tier games and get up into the top level where I can truly improve my game. The Sellwood pickup is going to be a good way to get that, I think.
Until then, I will continue to wonder.
